Increasing displacement. Just wondering if anyone has looked into making their 690 a little bigger. It's a 109.6 which put out roughly 798cc at the end of the day. They also offer a complete package with headwork, tuning etc. that puts out about 100hp and 70ish ftlb or torque.

Cooling the Duke 690. getting my first ktmtwins order ready and i was thinking about getting the lower temp fan switch in case the 90 degree jersey summers dont agree with the ktm engine. but i was wondering if the actual coolant thermostat would allow extra cooling to take place. i saw one listed for a different ktm rated at 70c, or 157f. just

The hydraulic KTM timing chain tensioner is controlled by oil pressure and is known to have some issues. Many 690 owners have opted to replace it with the Rally Raid Products manual tensioner. There's a good video explanation of the the issue on djhcyclesports.com. I’m still thinking through what the next move is. A couple of notes, there was about 500 ml of makeup oil for this report (not sure why that was omitted), the bike currently has 16,200 miles or 4,172 miles on the current oil (I’m waiting on some magnetic oil filter covers and drain bolts to arrive in the mail before changing the oil).

I use a KTM 690 Duke for coaching students on the racetrack, and the bike is pretty good apart from the shock not being adjustable and being poor quality. The bike is surprisingly capable on the track aside from the rear shock.
