Despite the pop-up in the in-game menu that reads, "add a Second Controller for split-screen", playing Warzone 2 with a friend on the same console isn't actually possible. The only way to play with friends on Warzone 2 is via Online Play. The prompt to connect a second controller for split screen has completely disappeared for me. Every time I do connect a second controller the game freezes and I have to exit and restart. There is no multilayer splitscreen in the new mw2. My wife and I enjoyed playing together on vanguard and she was really looking forward to playing the new game together. Completely disappointed they left it out. Here's the major bullshit. You can still pay splitscreen but only in a private match.
